We are proud to announce that AITA has been awarded First Runner-Up in Stream 2 "Development of Tailored AI Agents" at the 2nd International Competition on AI in Education 2026. The award was presented at the Final Pitch Day and Award Presentation Ceremony on 15 July 2026.
AITA is a scalable, course-aware Human–AI co-teaching platform that embeds AI as a true instructional partner for higher education. Developed by leading AI researchers, AITA transforms instructors' course materials (lecture slides, textbooks, and notes) into a smart, always-available study companion for students. Unlike general-purpose AI tools, AITA delivers genuine course context, curriculum-aligned answers, and personalised support firmly grounded in the actual teaching materials.

Lecture audio alignment: Instructors can upload lecture recordings; the Audio Agent optimises the narration and automatically aligns it to each slide for easy student playback.

AITA has already been deployed at Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU) and The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK), supporting over 1,000 users across more than 15 courses in Computer Science, Communication, Humanities, Engineering, and other disciplines, and earning 100% positive feedback. Students particularly value how AITA helps them review knowledge effectively, tackle difficult content, and take notes seamlessly.
Supported by the UGC Innovative Technology-in-Education (FITE) Fund (2025–2028), we are expanding AITA from pilot courses toward wider campus-wide and multi-university deployment so that even more students and instructors can benefit.
About The AIREA International Competition on AI in Education 2026
Hosted by the Artificial Intelligence Research and Education Alliance (AIREA) of The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK), this year’s competition attracted over 200 project submissions from more than 10 countries worldwide. It fosters collaboration among students, educators, researchers, and industry professionals to advance innovative, ethical, and responsible AI solutions for more personalised and inclusive education. Across three streams, Stream 2 focuses on developing tailored AI agents as personalised, proactive learning companions, including AI-powered tutors and adaptive assessment tools that uphold academic integrity.
